Nutrition: My Journey To Wellness
“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver" – Mahatma Gandhi
I remember exactly 3 weeks ago today when I made a post on my social media about my intentions to close temporarily during the stage 4 'hibernation'. I've actually decided to call it the "Pause and reset plot twist" instead, because I want to share my story of what I have taken advantage of during my down time.
I decided that it was time for me to take a long, hard look in the mirror and tell myself; "Steph, there's something that needs to change!". No matter how far I've come with my spirituality at the moment, I still felt like there was something missing. I needed to dig a little deeper because the thought was eating at me from the inside out. After my quiet contemplation, with of course the help from my guides, it hit me like a tone of bricks:
Eat. You need to CHANGE what you eat, Stephanie. Feed your body to heal and balance the soul.
Once I acknowledged and accepted this message from my higher self, everything seemed crystal clear. The Universe gave me a starting point. It was up to me, because I was on a mission now. But I still asked myself, can I do it? Will I be able to follow and see it through? Where do I start? I knew I couldn't do this alone. It wasn't until I confided in my husband and asked him if he would be willing to share this journey with me. In our couple, it has always been about team work and supporting each other, especially when decisions for the better influences us both. Deep down I knew that it wasn't just about my health alone, but also about our longevity as a whole in the future for the rest of our lives.

So together, we sought out the help from a close friend on mine who's a naturopath, by the name of Sonja Ljavroska from Balanced Health and Well-being. After consulting with both of us, she put together an amazing nutritional program to help with weight-loss and healthy eating, with the support of powdered herbs and supplements. It was unlike any body shaping program I've ever read about. But we were committed to following it down to a T.
I'm going to be totally honest with you, the first week was pretty grueling because it felt like quite of an internal shock to the system. It was because my body was going through a much needed detox to heal by reducing the sugary and saturated foods I was used to, to more leaner and healthier options. Despite the struggle, I knew it was what my physical body needed in order to heal on the inside as well as the outside.
Since I started the program, I've realized that I don't feel as tired in the morning as I now wake up feeling very refreshed, energized and focused throughout the day. After loosing almost 5kg, I feel lighter on my feet and I don't feel as heavy in my body. On the outside, I noticed that my skin is glowing as my blemishes and pimples have smoothed out which has been a major boost to my self-esteem. And if you're wondering how my husband is going, he's already lost 10kg and still going strong like a warrior!
Even though I'm half way through my nutritional program, I've realized that it's not always just about the numbers I see on the scale with the kilograms I've lost, it's mainly about how I feel on the inside which makes me happy and feel like I've already won in my pursuit to a healthier lifestyle for the rest of my life.
