Mental Health and Massage Therapy

Updated: Jun 15, 2019

I've had a few people recently who have asked me - "What are the benefits of Massage Therapy for mental health?". If you're new to Massage and haven't experienced the benefits of this holistic therapy, I can easily tell you that the positive outcomes are evident in more ways than one. The art of therapeutic touch is more than just a pampering experience, it's also a personal endeavor to healing your physical, mental and spiritual state. The world's leading neuroscientists agree that human contact is vital for our health, wellness and emotional happiness from the moment we are born into this world.

Some examples of the conditions which massage therapy can assist with are anxiety, chronic stress, depression and grief - just to name a few. In doing so, it helps to bring a sense of calm, relaxation and peace to your mind and soul, allows the release of melatonin (aka the sleep hormone), the release of endorphins (aka the happy hormone), and relieves muscle tension and stiffness.

The first step towards positive wellness in mind, body and spirit begins with you. Once you have made that choice to allow yourself to receive healing, you have opened a doorway to so many possibilities that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Always remember that the therapeutic effects of Massage is a gradual healing process that differs from each person, depending on where you are in your journey to wellness.

Never feel obliged to put yourself first ♥
