I GOT IT FROM MY DADDY!

I've had a number of people who've asked me over this past month "What made you get into massage, Steph?".

The first thing I tell people is that I sort of stumbled into it by accident 8 years ago. It was far from an ambition I had in mind to do for the rest of my life, as I had other intentions of pursuing a career in performance art. It was by chance that my mum, Jacqueline, came across a website on Google about a school in South Melbourne called 'Australian College of Massage' which is now renamed as 'Evolve College'.

It was a study-at-your-own-pace type of course and I'm forever grateful to my mum about initiating the idea because I went from exploring the open day, to the certificate IV and finally the Diploma. For a class that started full with 20 students, I was one of the 9 who decided to stay and graduate. My parents ALWAYS told me: finish what you started!

On a personal level, my Dad, Ignace, has actually been known to be very good with his hands giving Massage in our family. Growing up in Mauritius, it wasn't exactly known as a career choice, but the more I think about it now, I truly believe that this talent was passed down onto me by this Great Man! It isn't something that I try to question anymore because I know it is in my blood and it's what I was meant to be in this world: A Healer.

In the words of Shakespeare: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.
