How To Boost Your Immune System

As they said in Game of Thrones: Winter is coming! It's all about breaking out the big coats, scarves, beanies, ugg boots and sipping on hot chocolate by the fireplace.

But with the cooler change on the near horizon, it's also very important to make sure that we maintain a strong and healthy immune system for 2020! So far, this year has been teaching me to be creative with maintaining my wellness in new and different ways. So I thought I'd share with you some of my own natural methods that I already apply, as well as some awesome new strategies to beat the Winter Blues.

1. Get enough sleep! Adults should aim to get 7 hours or more of sleep each night. 2. Eat more fresh and whole plant foods (such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and legumes). 3. Reduce your added sugar and sodium intake. 4. Water, Water, Water! It's a magical elixir to help you to stay hydrated, alert, awake and flushes out the toxins from your body. 5. Incorporate some moderate exercise: brisk walking, steady bicycling, jogging, or, my personal favorite, dancing! 6: Stress less! Learn to practice mindfulness by meditating 5-10 minutes a day or unleash your creative streak with some journaling, gardening and painting. Don't sweat the small stuff. LET IT GO and LET IT BE. 7.  Practice good personal hygiene: wash your hands with soap and warm water frequently, avoid touching your face and stay home if you're not feeling well. 8. Enjoy the sunshine! Exposure to the sun, even for just 10 minutes, can help increase your body's production of Vitamin D. 9. Experiment with herbal remedies: Dandelion, Turmeric, Ginger, Echinacea and Gin Seng are packed with antioxidants to boost your energy levels and helps your body become resistant to infections. 10: Get a Massage! Regular treatments have been proven to better increase blood and lymph flow, decrease stress hormones AND gives a boost to your the immune system.

Always remember: You've gotta nourish to flourish!
